Accusations: Jenny McCarthy has hit out at her ex Jim Carrey for not staying in touch with her son Evan
McCarthy, 39, opened up about the matter in Howard Stern's radio show saying: 'I've tried to ask [Jim] numerous times [to see Evan], because my son still asks.
'I tell [Evan] that someday you'll cross paths, meet again,' she added. 'It's hard. He's been in therapy. It's a process, he's working on it.'
Step-father: The couple were in a relationship
for five years until 2010, and Jenny says Evan, now 10, 'still asks' for
the actor
'I haven't [reached out directly] . . . I think that sometimes people need to take a real break from each other,' she told the radio host.
Carrey and McCarthy began dating when Evan was just three, and remained together until he was eight.
Despite her accusation, Jenny admitted: 'I still love him.
'I think you can love people from a distance and respect him. But as a mother, you just hope when you have a relationship with someone, it has nothing to do with the child when you break up.'
Moved on: Jenny McCarthy is now dating football
linebacker Brian Urlacher, and Carrey is dating Russian student
Anastasia Vitkina
Carrey is dating Russian student Anastasia Vitkina, while Jenny's latest flame is Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher.
'As you get older, you kind of get to see things more clearly,' McCarthy said. 'Hopefully you get happier [over time], and I am so much happier.'
Evan's father is Jenny's ex-husband John Mallory Asher. It's not known if Evan's father is still in contact.
