He’s known for his tough guy roles in movies but it seems in real life Colin Farrell is just a softy at heart.
The actor was spotted making a fuss over a cute puppy on the set of his new movie Winter’s Tale on Sunday as a member of crew presented it to the actor.
Colin couldn’t help but smile as he stroked the chocolate brown pooch which was being cradled in the arms of a woman he was chatting to.
Puppy love: Colin Farrell was spotted petting a dog on the set of Winter's Tale in New York City
The canine seemed to brighten up the day of the 36-year-old – who was coping with the cold weather as they recorded scenes by Cooper Union in New York City.
The hunky screen star wasn’t exactly looking himself as he stood wearing a white shirt, black coat and flaunting a very dark slicked back hairstyle.
Helping himself to a sandwich from the catering table, he was of course still in character as Peter Lake.
Smitten: The actor got to grips with the pooch on a break from filming at Cooper Union
In the forthcoming film, which is based on a novel with the same title, Colin's character forms a special bond with the horse, which also acts as his guardian angel.
The love story follows what happens when the burglar falls for a dying young woman, played by flame-haired Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay, after breaking into her Manhattan mansion.
The story will flick between the 19th century and present day New York, and is the directorial debut of the Oscar-winning Beautiful Mind writer Akiva Goldsman.
Lunch time: The actor grabbed a sandwich as had a chat with workers on the film during his break
Not his usual look: Colin was looking far from his hunky self as he was in character
But Colin's path will not be easy, for he has to evade the clutches of a thoroughly rotten gangster played by Russell Crowe, who is the one who presses him into thievery in the first place.
On Wednesday he was getting to grips with another much larger animal, taking his co-star on a horse ride in New York.
Jessica Brown Findlay wrapped her arms round his waist and clung on for dear life as the powerful stallion took full advantage of the wide open spaces at Prospect Park.
