She usually has her hands full as a a busy mother to her two-year-old son Theodore.

But Ali Larter makes sure never to miss her regular lunch dates with good friend Amy Smart.

The 35-year-old actress showed off her incredible figure in high-waisted jeans as she chatted with a more demure-looking Amy, also 35, outside celebrity hotspot Spago in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday.

Ali looked like a Charlie's Angel in the Seventies-style light-wash jeans, which she paired with a deep purple sweater and scarlet lips as she and Amy waited for the valet to bring over their cars.

The actress added a further pop of colour with orange shoes, accessorising with a white leather handbag and over-sized cat-eye shades.

The mother-of-one wore her highlighted layered blonde hair straight and loose over her shoulders.

Amy, meanwhile, tapped into her girly side with a long-sleeved black-and-white polka dot dress and black ballet flats.

She was dressed down compared to her glamorous friend, scraping her blonde hair back into a ponytail and opting not to wear much makeup.

The actress was seen holding a giant cookbook under her arm, perhaps purchased while the pair lunched at Wolfgang Puck's famous restaurant.

The pair have been friends for years after meeting during Ali's modelling days in Italy.

They became instant friends, according to the actress, and they later took acting classes together in Los Angeles before moving into an apartment together.

They are regularly snapped meeting for lunch, no doubt valuing their trusted friendship as they each navigate their film and television careers.

Ali became a mother to Teddy in December 2010 with her writer producer husband Hayes MacArthur, who she married in August 2009.

The actress is making the most of her down-time at the moment as her schedule is about to get a lot busier.

She was recently cast as the female lead in Howard Gordon's TNT pilot, Legends.

Ali will star opposite Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings alumnus Sean Bean, 53.

In the spy show, Ali will play Crystal, an operative who initially opposes Agent Martin Odum's (Bean) return to their task force.
