In the past Ms Michaels has been taken to court four times by consumers claiming her products were either ineffective or dangerous. However each lawsuit was dismissed.
One plaintiff suggested that the ingredients Chinese rhubarb, Irish moss powder and uva-ursi, contained in the Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse kit, might have lethal effects.
Diet and toxicology experts concluded that it was unlikely the cleanse was dangerous, but they agreed that it could cause unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms such as cramping and diarrhea.
Defending her products, which are made and marketed by Utah-based ThinCare International, Ms Michaels previously told the Associated Press: 'My reputation and credibility are of the utmost importance to me.
