Matt Damon’s directorial debut on its way

Matt Damon
Matt Damon's plans to get behind the camera are coming into place, with a script co-written and conceived by Damon, John Krasinski and Dave Eggers appears
No stranger to screenplays, having written 1997’s Good Will Hunting with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon is finalising plans to direct a self-penned project, written with The Office’s John Krasinski, conceived by Damon, Krasinski and novelist Dave Eggers.
Damon’ll be following the lead set by pal Affleck whose most recent directing gig, last year’s The Town has been cited in the news lately as having inspired the actions of a real-life criminal gang. If only they’d taken inspiration from Good Will Hunting instead those crims could all be maths geniuses dating Minnie Driver by now.

Damon and Krasinski’s script focuses on a travelling salesman who settles in a small town and re-evaluates his life. Might not sound much at the moment, but some of the best little pictures are low-concept, not least Krasinski and Eggers' last collaboration, Away We Go, which turned out to be a bit of a gem.
We love Matt Damon here at Movie Reviews, not for the Bourne stuff, not for sappy sap-fest Good Will Hunting, and certainly not for lending his voice to Happy Feet 2, but for two things: 30 Rock and that song he did with Sarah Silverman. Our mums might tell us off if we post it here, but look it up on YouTube if you get a minute.
