It’s
done and dusted, but we won’t be seeing it until next January now, as
Paramount delay the release of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
We bought you a first look at Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton’s grown-up Hansel and Gretel a few weeks back, but now it seems we won’t be able to see the pair in witch-kicking action for another year.
The canny folk at Paramount have decided to stall the release of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters until after Jeremy Renner’s Bourne run of high-profile roles next year, building on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and more.
2012 will see Renner in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers (one of our top 5 fantasy picks of the year) and replacing Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy (one of our top 5 action picks for 2012). The logic goes that he’ll be hotter property after that rash of big-screen appearances, which seems sensible enough. It also wouldn’t hurt to leave some breathing space between the film and Rupert Sanders’ similarly dark, violent Snow White and the Huntsman, out this June.
