Matt Damon looks ready to retire in his dressing gown as Jake Gyllenhaal 'replaces him in Bourne identity franchise'

Happily posing for photographs in his pyjamas and dressing gown, Matt Damon looked ready for a rest last night.
And it seems he might be in luck, after it was revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to takeover his leading man status in the next film in the Bourne franchise, The Bourne Legacy.
The 30-year-old actor is the latest Hollywood star said to be vying for the extremely coveted role.

A new star is 'Bourne'? Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star in The Bourne Legacy, taking over from Matt Damon who was pictured in a dressing gown and robe at the 48th Annual ICG Publicist Award, last night
According to reports, Gyllenhaal was in talks with the film's writer Tony Gilroy on Thursday.
Filling Damon's shoes for the next Bourne film was always going to be a big job.
The 40-year-old actor, who has ten years on Gyllenhaal, has successfully played amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne in three of the hit action thrillers, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy , and The Bourne Ultimatum.
The new film is set to be release in 2012.
Universal Pictures originally intended The Bourne Ultimatum to be the final film in the series, but development of the new film was under way by October 2008.

Unlike the previous three movies, it is not based on the novels written by Robert Ludlum.
Instead the story has a completely different treatment and Damon's role of Jason Bourne will not be entirely to put to rest.
The new film won't be putting a new actor in the character of Bourne.
Instead, there will be a whole new character in a whole new storyline.

'This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel,' writer Tony Gilroy said back in October last year.
'No one's replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project...
'The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal. Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he's very much alive.'
Gyllenhaal is not the only leading man being considered for the role.
He follows a long line of actors under contemplation.
Twilight's Kellan Lutz and Spiderman star Tobey Maguire are high up on the list, along with Country Strong actor Garrett Hedlund, and his Friday Night Light's co-star Taylor Kitsch.
Meanwhile the original leading man oddly stepped out in a dressing gown and pair of pyjamas, last night.
Damon appeared to have missed the dress code altogether as he attended the 48th Annual ICG Publicist Awards at The Beverly Hilton hotel.
Shaking hands with suited former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor  looked extremely comfortable in his night attire.
It is unknown why he turned up to the event in his bed clothes.
It may have been a case of being too tired to get dress-up.
Damon had just flown back to Los Angeles after appearing on The Today Show in New York  that morning with his co-star Emily Blunt.

On the show, the stars were promoting their new film, The Adjustment Bureau.
During their interview Damon described his seven-second on screen kiss with Emily Blunt as 'very, very, very, very uncomfortable'.
Damon told host Meredith Vieira: 'By the time we shot that scene, it was really one of the last things we shot and we were really great friends and our spouses were really great friends and it was very, very, very, awkward.'
'John Toll, the great cinematographer and also a friend of ours, he was shooting the film and he was equally uncomfortable,' he continued.
'He was saying "Guys it's only seven seconds, can you just give me seven seconds?'
